Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness

The arts are important in a truly Christian education because they share with the core studies the very purpose of Christian education, to develop in the student the image of God in Christ. We seek to teach our students to seek that which is best and most beautiful; not as an end in itself, but to the end that they may be “throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:17).

Our fine arts program identifies and develops students’ abilities and provides them with many opportunities to use those gifts in worship and service to Christ. Students may exercise their gifts during extracurricular events throughout the school year, enter competitions with other schools around the state, and even earn the opportunity to compete on the national level.

Academy students have won multiple individual and group state and national titles in music, speech, and art. Our debate team is a three-time AACS national champion.

Music

Our music program provides students the opportunity and encouragement to develop their musical gifts for the glory of God. Throughout the year, students involved in our vocal and instrumental ensembles minister in a variety of locations such as area assisted living centers, the services of Temple Baptist Church, the Academy Christmas program, and in other community venues.

Speech & Debate

Upper school students have the opportunity to participate in speech and debate through an interscholastic team, competing in debate, public speaking, and interpretation events. Competitive speech teaches students to think carefully, to respond wisely to opposing viewpoints and to effectively communicate what they believe. Academy debate teams have been extraordinarily successful, winning four straight state championships and three consecutive national titles.

Visual Arts

Our students are enthusiastically engaged in creating and displaying artwork under the guidance of a talented and caring teacher. Weekly art classes encourage lower school students to be creative through the use of many different techniques and materials. Through age- and skill-level-appropriate instruction, students are introduced to a wide variety of media and techniques. Students participate in the annual TACS state art competition, as well as participating in local contests.
